Klaus wins Red Dot Design Award

We congratulate our own Klaus Kremer for winning a Red Dot Design Award for his Floodscape app.

Floodscape is a responsive emergency self-rescue app that caters to the diminishing capabilities of those in an emerging disaster event to process information in order to take action. Designed to educate users about possible inundation zones resulting from a tsunami, the ongoing user engagement through interactive simulation is the prime focus of the initial (dormant) state of the app.

In an actual tsunami, Floodscape registers the event and adapts its user interface accordingly, allowing it to be used in emergency management. In its active state, the changing user interface reflects the rising threat and presents visual information, including crucial life-saving wayfinding information that is in tune with the user’s changing mental state and narrowing focus. Risk maps become response maps, galvanising attention and calling the user to action. A modular interface allows the user to combine quick messaging to individual groups.
