World Design Capital 2024: DEM hosts two workshops

World Design Capital Free Workshop Strengthening resilience across borders: design to mitigate the worst case scenario

These workshops are hosted as part of World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024.

When? 25 & 26 October 2024

Where? Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego (CA) USA

A large earthquake. A tsunami. Wildfires. Floods. None of these devastating events or their consequences stop at the border. During an emergency, a correct map can mean the difference between life and death. It requires more than a single map however: it necessitates the development of appropriate wayfinding systems for emergencies and, more importantly, the power of community-driven action. Through targeted workshops, this initiative aims to establish a localized visual language for emergencies in the San Diego-Tijuana context, enhance wayfinding systems and foster community engagement in disaster preparedness.

Rodrigo Ramírez and Claudine Jaenichen will host these workshops.
